Back to the Basics (Manual Material Handling) is for all employees who may potentially be exposed to back injury as a result of manual material handling or other work related activities.
Back to Basics is a quick paced, informative program to help employees understand back injuries and the precautions they can take to prevent these most costly lost time incidents. The program uses a question and answer format to involve the viewer and get him or her thinking about their own behaviors and how they might be affecting their back.
The program provides specific information on the anatomy of the spine and the force multiplier effects of bending and lifting. The program also addresses repetitive motions and how these cumulative traumas can injure the back. Important precaution for preventing injury are stressed including limbering before lifting, getting help, proper lifting motions, pushing, using carts and other techniques for avoiding back problems.
